About Leon Zelly

Leon Zelly is an American abstract artist who is best known for his vivid and expressive abstract paintings. Born in Brooklyn, New York in 1986, Leon was exposed to art from a young age, often visiting galleries with his mother. He earned a Bachelor’s degree at the School of Visual Arts and soon afterward began to cultivate his own unique style of abstract painting.

Leon’s work often consists of bold brushstrokes and vibrant colors which he combines with vibrant geometric shapes to create captivating compositions that are both visually striking and emotionally evocative images. His paintings range from representational depictions of everyday scenes to more abstract works which explore color, light, form, texture, and movement.

In recent years Leon has become increasingly well-known for his work on the popular web series “Who Is KK Downey?” The series follows the life of KK Downey as she navigates the world of art and fashion while documenting her experiences through video shorts, blog posts, and social media updates. Leon has collaborated closely with KK Downey on several projects since joining the show in 2015 and has been featured heavily throughout its run as one of its principal artists.

Leon has exhibited widely across the United States including at prestigious galleries such as The Garage Gallery in San Francisco, CA; Galerie Art & Style in Los Angeles, CA; Wexler Gallery in Philadelphia; PA; Devening Projects + Editions Gallery in Chicago IL; among many others. He continues to develop new bodies of work while exhibiting regularly around the world.
